Frequently asked First Aid Questions

What is first aid
Immediate help, Invest in life with AAB First Aid Training courses!
First aid – the care given before emergency medical help arrives – can literally mean the difference between life and death. But knowing the correct thing (first aid procedure) to do if someone has a nosebleed or cut is also important. The First Aid Appointed Person Training course and First Aid at work Training course offered by AAB First Aid Training will equip you for such events by teaching you to become a qualified First Aid appointed person.

The legal first aid obligation
Employers have an obligation under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and Approved Code of Practice (ACOP L74) to make adequate and appropriate first aid provision for their workforce by appointing a designated First Aid appointed person.
It is recommended that a first aid appointed person is able to undertake first aid duties at all times when people are at work that may need first aid care at any time.

Business benefits of first aid training courses with AAB FIRST AID TRAINING
In addition to reduced injury costs significantly, businesses derive other benefits from effective first aid cover and first aid appointed persons. Research shows that first aid training at work can significantly improve the confidence and motivation of employees. Ensuring that your employees learn first aid is so much more than just complying with your health and safety obligations. ?Encouraging people to learn a life saving skill with first aid training shows your commitment to the employee and also to the well being of your whole team. The confidence and motivation that it can give to these individuals is invaluable both in and out of the working environment. AAB FIRST AID TRAINING recommends the First Aid Appointed Persons Training Course and the First Aid At Work Training Course for businesses.
In addition to the employee being trained to be a first aid appointed person, other staff also benefit from good first aid provision:
• They feel more relaxed by knowing that if an incident were to occur, they would be able to receive prompt and effective treatment from a first aider at work.
• First aiders can help spread good health and safety messages in the workplace.
• First aid training in itself can improve safety behavior and may contribute to accident prevention (e.g. in support of the HSC priority on slips, trips and falls etc.).

First aid kits
Under the Health & Safety (First aid) regulations it is the duty of every employer to provide at least one first aid container for each work site to be used by a first aider in an emergency when first aid is needed. During your First Aid Appointed Person/First Aid at work training course with AAB FIRST AID TRAINING you will learn what a first aid kit should consist of.

Choosing the right first aid kit
