Current HSE stipulations for first aid implies that there are essentially two types of first aid training courses for the workplace:

1. HSE First Aid at Work (1 day training course)

2. HSE First Aid appointed person (4 day training course)

At work people may suffer injury or a sudden illness which requires that employers have arrangements in place to provide their employees

with immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at the workplace. Our first aid training course provides information on all aspects of

first aid at work and will be of interest to employers, employees, first aiders and training organisations across all industry sectors.

First aid Facts according to the NHS

Casualties of accidents, and  heart attacks, compiles a significant proportion of

the total number of UK deaths each year.

Heart attacks

Approximately 2.6 million people have coronary heart disease (CHD) and, together with

cardiovascula disease (CVD), it accounts for over 300,000 deaths each year. Heart and

circulatory disease causes the most fatalities in the UK each year. Someone has a

heart attack every two minutes In the UK of which 50% die prior to reaching the hospital

 which stresses the importance of first aid provision

Accidents at home

4,000 people die in accidents at home, with 2.8 million injured.

Road Accidents

In the timeframe ranging between April 2005 and March 2006, approximately 3,200 people

were killed on Britain's roads, with almost 270,000 casualties in total, and 29,000 seriously

First Aid Training Course accreditation in the UK:

Currently first aid at work and appointed person training are prescribed and regulated solely

by the HSE, although several ambulance services and awarding bodies might be perceived

play a significant role, regulation and standards are indeed an HSE matter The HSE does

currently stipulate that providers follow UK resuscitation council guidelines during training.
